Being offered is a very rare 1920's era - 4 ½" tall 8 ½" wide (from end to end of the handles) "large" silver plate very ornate handled ice bucket for the Missouri Hotel that was located in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Missouri Hotel, was an impressive 6-story structure that was built in the 1920's in the downtown area of Jefferson City. The hotel advertised as "One of the finest appointed hotels in the Middle West, with service unsurpassed". The hotel had it's own Coffee Shop, which it's entrance was to the side of the hotel and I believe was open late hours. The hotel also set on the side of a hill, which part of it's basement was exposed and gave it quite the grandeur appearance. The hotel, in 1929, was under the operation of the Sweet Hotel Co., which John S. Sweet was the President and Walter B. Simpson, M.D., as it's manager. Sweet Hotels operated the following hotels: Hotel Bothwell in Sedalia Missouri, Hotel Tiger in Columbia Missouri, Hotel Missouri in Jefferson City MO, Hotel Capital in Topeka Kansas, Hotel Atchison in Atchison Kansas, Tioga Inn in Chanute KS, Hotel Osage in Arkansas City Kansas, and the Hotel Kansas in Topeka Kansas.
