I have for auction a very rare Missouri state seal button, first the facts on this button, I have contacted several folks who deal with Civil war items and all have gave their opinion that this is a period civil war button, but they could not be 100 % sure as they have not ever had one, but again they belived it not to be post civil war, 2nd it was dug by me in New Orleans in a civil war camp site that is listed in the book Named forts and camps, I dug this button along with Pelicans, New York and a ton of Union buttons, buckles were also found along with a ton of minnie balls of different types, this camp site was in confederate hands until the North took New Orleans and then the Union forces took it over. I would welcome any one who may have comments on this button and I will post for all to see. You be the judge and I guarantee this is not a repro. The button is 2 peice and has the 2 bears on both sides, the back mark is Waterbury button Co. Please look at the photos the condition is very good for being dug and still has a touch of gilt on the front. s you chance to add a very inportatnt and rare and very hard to come by button to your collection. Pelican buckle is not included in this auction, this auction is for the Missouri state seal button only, the buckle is to show some of the other items found at this site. Email with questions, buyer pays shipping and insurance, payment due 10 days from close of auction, U.S. sales only, all forms of payment must clear before shipping of item.
