From Estate: Vintage & solid-as-Gibralter, classic style MITCHELL "SALT H2O #SW66TROL" DEEP SEA TROLLING ROD of approx. six foot six inches OAL, composed of HD fiberglass construction with white overall finish, top & bottom roller guidesplus four (4) graduated Fuji ceramic reing guides, black foam rubber grips with HD black poly reel seat having chrome banded locking rings, and solid aluminum alloy butt with gimbaled ("X" cut) base. Vintage Mitchell Salt H2O Rod features a bright white exterior finish with largest, double roller guide at grip end, then having ring guides in graduating in size towards smallest at top, with tip guide another roller type, all wrapped with black bands at ends and under the guides plus fine gold accents. The original factory decal reading "Mitchell" ... is located just above the fore grip, and further up is followed by the model designation: "SALT H2O" ... in blue capital lettering below double roller guide, while backside of same area has factory data in small print reading: "SW66TROL" ... "Heavy Action" ... "30-80 Lb."... all print still clear & legible of course.(See Photos) Classic Mitchell Salt H2O Rod measures about 3/4" in diameter above the grip section of 27 1/2" OAL which includes solid, foamed rubber fore & aft grip sections, with HD black poly reel seat at center having chrome banded, threaded rings, and solid alloy butt section with gimbaled "X" cut base for use with fighting belt or chair. Condition of this high quality Mitchell Salt H2O Rod is still very good overall with NO fractures, chips, cracks, dings, dents, or other visible "problems" beyond a few insignificant scratches & scuffs to rod exterior from storage ... but that's about it! In fact, we'd guess that this vintage Mitchell Trolling Rod was purchased new but saw little, if any, actual use over the past few years. Built solid as Gibralter, this HD fiberglass beauty has the power to spare and some serious backbone compared to most of the modern, hollow fiberglass Deep Sea Rods currently available, with fiberglass blank appearing to be either very thick-walled, and to run right through the upper grip section & reel seat, directly into the butt section for extreme strength under max loading. Actual condition of this heavy duty Mitchell Trolling Rod is excellent overall still, and appears to be "as new" and factory original in all respects. Rod does show the usual & insignificant scratches to exterior surfaces from storage in this climate, as you might expect ... but that's about it! The HD poly reel seat functions perfectly, and holds most any standard reel foot up to 3 3/4" OAL. T he classic, black foam fore & aft grips are in virtually "as new" overall condition, and the guides are perfect still, so this classic Mitchell salt H2O Rod is ready-to-go when you are. Actual weight of this Trolling Rod is about twenty four (24) ounces, just as shown here, and it will be shipped in a full length, HD cardboard tube.(See Photos) Recently purchased at Estate, this oldie-but-goodie Mitchell Salt H2O Trolling Rod was among a small lot of classic Deep Sea Rods standing in a garage rack, all of which we inspected, bid on, and subsequently won. We were very happy to acquire this vintage Mitchell Salt H20 Trolling Rod in this excellent & un-used condition among them of course ... as we know you will be too.
