MMA (METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART) 1977 ANNUAL "A CHRISTMAS STAR" (6th in SERIES) Incorporated in 1870, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA) was founded in New York City to house collections of objects that illustrate the history of art. It is one of the largest museums of its kind in the world. In 1970, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, America's Louvre, became a forerunner in the sterling silver, limited Christmas ornament race with a first edition Snowflake. In 1971, the shops of the Museum began offering sterling silver and in 1972 added gold plated stars and snowflakes. These collections still continue. Each ornament is dated on the back. Here is the sixth in the series; sterling silver and gold plated Christmas star made by MMA. It has the original box, pouch and card. It is 3 1/2" and weighs approximately 28.3 grams. Please look in my store as I am adding more MMA ornaments (as well as other makers) as time permits. From what I can tell there are no marks indicating any of these ornaments have ever been cleaned. Some maybe should be, depending on your preference. I will leave that up to you. You will not be disappointed but if for any reason you want to return them, I will gladly refund your money minus return shipping and delivery confirmation costs if returned within 7 days in the same condition as received.
