For auction is a US Model of 1905 bayonet as made by Rock Island Armory in 1906. Rock Island did not serial number their 1906 dated bayonets.Overall condition is very good, nice polish to the blade with only light scratching and dulling from use. Almost none of the blue finish on the guard, tang and pommel, has faded to a plum brown on the pommel. Please view the photos carefully although it is difficult to show the blade well due to the shine. Grips are very good with light wear and use, but no serious chips or missing wood. Good cutter marks, have not been sanded and refinished as is common with the early dates. Again, please view the photos carefully.Scabbard is a Model 1906 modified to the 1910 double hooks. Originally made by RIA and dated 1907, was also modified by RIA. This is what I call the Type 3 in my book with what I think is the later modification with the full leather wrap around the throat. Shows use and wear, but not at all bad. Leather is solid, and markings are readable but faded. Has the appearance of having "been there and done that" in World War One, and these were used into the early part of WW2 as nearly 100,000 were shown on hand in 1939.Please see photos as I believe they describe the condition better than I can, and ask questions if needed. I am also selling many other items of US militaria that I have picked read more
