This is the K-model 4 bayonet . The cross guard is stamped ..K-model 4 ..This model bayonet went to using black plastic checkered grips in 1956. This was the final solution to the problems of mildew. The K stands for Kiffe,a Japanese manufacturing company who were producing military knives and bayonets for the USA for use in Korea and Vietnam . This has the correct scabbard..USM8A1...V.P. co..This bayonet has an excellent blade(never sharpened) and perfect handle.
