Very rare, and very beautiful original California art studio glass teapot, by Richard Marquis. Art Studio glass teapot is non-functional; and measures approximately 4 8/10" tall. The teapot is a stunning example of the work of this highly accomplished, and very talented glass artist, and is mint, original condition. Glass teapot is signed on the bottom, with the year 1979, as well as other identifying information on the piece. About the artist: Richard Marquis was borne in Bumblebee, Arizona; the second oldest of four children, and attended Upland High School in Southern California. In 1963, he moved to Berkeley, California, where the artist was based, until 1982. (He entered the University of California at Berkeley, (UCB), to study architecture. In 1965, he meets Ron Nagle; highly impressed by this artist's checkerboard moccasins; (the artist humorously adding these tidbits to his bibliography). 1965-69, the artist studies with other luminaries, such as Peter Voukos, Jim Melchert, Ron Nagle, Robert Hudson, Ed Rossbach, and Marvin Lipofsky; ("to learn everything, about everything").
