DESCRIPTION : This is an Estate Sale Find. Hard to locate. Large Logo with a Large "M" in the Middle. This piece is from the Monongahela West Penn Public Service Co. This was a Traction, Railway Company in North Central West Virginia and Ohio. T were two divisions. The Parkersburg division ran to Marietta, OH, and beyond to Beverly. Also served would be towns including West Union, Pennsboro, Harrisville. The Fairmont division ran to Clarksburg and beyond to Weston with several branch lines. Cities served in West Virginia also included Fairmont, Mannington, Fairview and on to Morgantown. The company also at one time owned the land that is now Jackson's Mill which was the boyhood home of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.These lines were merged into MWP in 1923. These lines met in Western Pennsylvania with the West Penn Railways System that served the Coal fields of the Pittsburgh Seam. At its zenith, West Penn Railways controlled or operated roughly 340 miles of track in several distinct and geographically separated segments. Most segments were in Southwestern Pennsylvania, with the "main line" extending between Greensburg and Uniontown via Mt. Pleasant, Scottdale, and Connellsville.SIZE : Saucer is 6" in diameter.
