This is a very nice vintage Montana Silversmiths silver roping trophy buckle. It is engraved "Bernalillo County 1976 4H Rodeo" (see photo, Bernalillo county is in New Mexico). It's stamped on the back "MONTANA SILVERSMITHS MONTANA SILVER COLUMBUS, MONT." (see photo). This buckle measures 4 1/4" x 3". This vintage buckle is silver with traditional gold color rope trim around the edge. It depicts a rodeo arena with stands and spectators on one side, a bronc rider in the background and a raised gold (or brass) horse with rider roping a calf (see photo). Buckle is in very good condition with normal light scratches and nicks but overall very nice and attractive. It looks like the buckle was probably lacquered (factory) to prevent tarnish and some of this clear coat has worn off (see photo, minor). T is a little green tarnish around some of the rope edge trim. I'm sure it can be easily cleaned or polished but I think it has a nice vintage patina and look just the way it is.
