Two Mopsy books - Mopsy #16 Mar 1953 St John Publishing Co. and TV Teens #9 Sept 1955 Charlton Comics The St John book has almost detached covers and a 2 cm tear at the mid-right of the front cover. The TV Teens has a missing single page, but is otherwise in very nice condition. These books are odd ducks in that the target audience appears to be folks who enjoy fashion, especially that which shows off the charms of scantily-clad young women. The St John book has single page strips of Mopsy strutting, posing and taking advantage of her men. The Charlton has mostly two pagers, but again, "vogue". Check out the scans to see what I mean. I have an extensive collection of childrens' comics coming up for auction. These "funny books" were the main diversion of kids in the 40's and 50's, featuring wonderful adventure stories and cartoon heroes. Every kid in the neighborhood had a stack to trade. My childhood in the 50's revolved around funny books. As a teen I followed the superheroes, but a special place in my heart remained for these wonderful books, which were very well written and illustrated, on the whole, and produced in huge quantities by all the major comics publishers. Check them out. They are hard to find, but worth the effort. I am retired and liquidating a 50-year collection of comics from the 50's and 60's. I collected these read more
