This is a magnificent vintage Showgirl / Dancer's top by we are offering for auction! It is done in a gorgeous orange satin completely covered with orange, white and silver sequins! The style looks like drum majorette(?) / military style. It has a short stand up collar done in white satin with white sequins and a row of silver sequins at the bottom edge. T are fabulous stiff epaulets at the shoulders done in white satin, white sequins and white fringe. They are edged in silver sequins, however t are some missing. The front of the top has 4 rows done in shite and silver with large glass 'rhinestones' at each side. The bottom edge of the top has a waistband of white sequins edged with silver sequins and a faux 'buckle' done in a square of silver sequins. The back of the top has orange sequined tails that taper from the sides to the center. The top is fully lined. It fastens in the back with a metal zipper. This lovely top has a Western Costume Company label and a Moro-Landis Productions label. The History of the Studio: George Moro and Ruth Landis were a couple of young dancers in the vaudevillian era. He, a tap dancer and she a showgirl, met while working together in a show, fell in love and married. At this time Las Vegas was blossoming into a star-studded hot spot, but was still not enough to have the facilities to properly develop its shows. George and Ruth bought a building that had been a beatnik coffee shop near the corner of Ventura and Vineland in Studio City, California and began to construct what was to become The Moro Landis Building. They began a production company that would reign on the LAS VEGAS STRIP, producing most of the shows t! The stars came to rehearse at Moro Landis, the dancers were choreographed, the costumes, tickets, sets, absolutely everything was created on the premises. This fabulous outfit is custom made so is not marked with a size but measures APPROXIMATELY a 32" Bust and 23"/24" waist. T is some light fraying and fading on the inside lining of the tails due to age and being hung under the lights. The collar is missing some white and silver sequins. Please keep in mind the age of this top - I would recommend a Professional cleaning as it WAS WORN in the movies / specials! This is a beautiful collectable and needs to be seen to be appreciated.
