Butterflies, along with their close relatives the moths, are insects. Together, they are the most numerous type of insect. The butterfly belongs to the order of insects called Lepidoptera. Insects that are in the Lepidoptera order have four wings and these wings are covered with scales. Peru is known as one of the countries with the highest biological diversity on the planet. In the National Park of the Manu in the Peruvian forest (Brazil-Peru border) for example, they have been found more than 1,300 species, in an area of only 10000 acres. Important species are found in Peru from genera such as Morpho (M. sulkowski, M. absoloni, M. cacica, M. achilles), Agrias (A. beata, A. claudina, A. excelsior), Papilio (P. xantopleura, P. cacicus), Parides (P. phosphorus, P. phalaeucus) besides others.
