NOT for the faint hearted This needs a lot of welding, but the parts are all available and if you are handy with a welder you could have a bargain. It is still MOT'd and taxed for a few weeks, but the MOT failure certificate is 3 pages long, ALL welding apart from lights . Runs well, engine seems sweet, gearbox fine Axle no noisier than any other 50 year old Minor I have driven Recent new hood in great condition Been a convertible for at least 15 years and MAY be an original, but I don't think it is. The Chassis number starts with FBB13 so this indicates a 2 door sallon So please take this as a conversion rather than original convertible It does have the strengthening plates under the dash/parcel shelf And looks like it was a really good conversion. Interior is OK (driver's seat cushion has a tear in it) Bodywork has some rust but wings etc seem to be usable. MUST be trailered away due to the conditon of the underneath Well worth restoring, but I bought this as a runaround and so I don't have time to do this AND restore my 1953 split screen. NO RESERVE, COME AND GET IT!!! Winning bidder must pay a deposit within 24 hours and collect the car within 3 days (unless alternative arrangements are negotiated) I hope that this will not be another Minor lost! Please note that pictures always make the paintwork look better than it actually is. I don't want anyone to expect too much, viewing is essential with a car like this. I have just had a look underneath to see just how bad it is. I found every yellow chalk mark that the tester did. To be honest (and remember this is only MY opinion) it is not as bad as the MOT guy made out and certainly not as bad as the "three page failure sheet" makes it sound. YES, there are certainly one or two very bad areas, but the rest is basic welding on the sills and one jacking point and cross brace. The worse part (and it IS bad,) is the rear offside inner wing, this is needs replacing. The other bad area is on the front nearside spring hanger mount. This is completely shot and the join between the sill and floor on the nearside near it needs replacing. The nearside cross piece and the jacking point that is connected to it, needs replacing Other than that ther are some other patches required. I have used the tester's yellow chalk marks to identify the areas and I expected to see them everywhere, but they are not. One of the front wings is not great and the door bottoms have rust in them and some rust near the body near the rear wing joint. I am trying to be honest and "manage expectations", but a viewing should make it clear exactly how bad it is. Convertible minors are great cars and well worth saving. They do hold their value really well and so the time, effort and money, should be worth it. So if you ARE interested in this, I would strongly suggest a viewing so you can judge for yourself. Cheers I have had several valuations of the registration number alone and the lowest was £1,000 after commision. Hopefully the new owner will not strip the reg number, but it should be considered as increasing the value of the car. Granted, a valuation is just that and you may have to wait for months to sell it, but it is something to bear in mind. The car can be made roadworthy with the welding done, or could even be a great restoration project, so I am hoping that it will be put back on the road. The parts are all available (Bull Motif have the springhanger and surrounding plate at around £35 and the rear inner wing around £80, I believe). read more
