Morris & Stone Esso petrol pump series No 5 Mobile Police CarFrom my own collection.This is the number 5 Mobile Police Car that was made between 1954-57, It is in superb mint condition, This is an early piece as it has grey metal wheels and rust free axles. Completely original model, comes with a mint box that is complete with all flaps, no rips, repairs or grafitti, a gem This range of Matchbox 1-75 sized models were for the best part made by ex-Lesney founder Rodney Smith in his Wallis road, Hackney factory "Smith Industries" who was in partnership with the owners of Morris & Stone to market this range of 20 models, Rodney Smith quit the Lesney company in 1951 but in 1954 he got back in to the diecasting business to go head to head with Lesneys Matchbox miniatures range, Lesney won the challenge and in 1957 the petrol pump range was cancelled, Morris & Stone continued to produce the range as "Modern Products", They later changed the name of the company to Morestone which eventually went on to become Budgie toys.
