First and most important. This is NOT a grayish dingy quilt. My camera put shadows on it. This is a light cream colored quilt, almost white. It has the appearance of trapunto because the quilting is so superior all over the quilt that I guess it pushed out the fatter feather garlands. The center is a lovely compass design surrounded with a circle of ribbon type garland shapes. Then heavy double row of garland feathers. Corners are wonderful. T is no yellowing or spotting that shows. If you get super picky I see one tiny grayish spot that faded into the shadows. T are a few pinsize holes that you don't see until you put your eyes right up against it. It is a sturdy strong heavy quilt. The quilting makes it somewhat stiff. This is a hope chest type of 1800s quilt. So much better than my pictures. The quilting is 12 stitches to the inch and every 1/4 inch in rows. Truly amazing and unique. It has been used and washed. It is in excellent condition. The binding consists of piping. All hand made of course. Both sides are beautiful, in fact after I took all the pictures I wondered if I had the right side. The quilt measures 76 x 82. Please scroll over and down to see all the pictures. Never a reserve in my weekly auctions. Thank you. Buyers Pay shipping and/or insurance. Foreign is extra.
