This is a tube "super heterodyne" type radio receiver that Works good and has good reception to even weak radio stations. The secret is Motorola put the antenna in the handle that can be rotated for best reception. The power cord plugs into the back for listening while plugged into 120V AC outlet. (built in AC adapter) The power connection is a little sensitive to movement but can be cleaned up for a better connection. I will put packing material inside the radio to protect the tubes during shipping. Batteries and tubes can be special ordered through Radio Shack , but these low voltage tubes very very rarely go. The sound is crisp and clean with no distortion.
