THE BEST MUSEUM QUALITY EARLY VARIABLE STAR QUILT, From a local CT estate first time for sale. !!! Selling on Ebay this truely amazing , and large american textile treasure circa 1860's or even earlier..... This quilt has been in one family for generations and remaining in overall good condition for its age. Vibrant patchwork fabrics form the variable star pattern made of a rich deep indigo blue colors with orange squiggle design within the fabric ( see close up image). Alternating with solid blocks of rich teal, blue, and brown early pattern fabrics. Amazingly fine stitchery throughout the quilt. ( measured 10 stitches per inch) . A green early fabric forms the taped binding which measures at 1/4 inch width. The reverse backing of the quilt appears to be a early cotton homespun fabric with a floral pattern running through. The back showing various old water stains possibly from trunk storage etc etc. One upper corner has a large block of a similar but different pattern fabric which does have tears and some holes (SEE close up images).!!!! NO STAINS HAVE COME THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE QUILT. The quilt retains a nice crisp feeling and lays thin and flat. We found and show an image of a small possible old blood spot on one front block. Please feel free to ask for more images as we will gladly send them to you for a more detailed look. read more
