Dear eBay Trading Partner, I urge you to carefully read this entire listing, including shipping details. This will help you to understand the very rare and finite opportunity which my auctions on eBay afford you. You are probably aware fraudulent items (especially antiquities) are frequently sold on eBay . You are bidding on an item from the collection of Marcel Gibrat (see brief bio below). This is a Vera Cruz Pottery Head Estimate : $ 400 Culture/Country : Mexico/Veracruz Period : 600 AD Size : 6 inches high Media/Material : Terracotta Condition : Fragmentary: restored from multiple pieces. Description : This is a Vera Cruz Pottery Head Provenance : Marcel Gibrat Collection; Marcel Gibrat Restoration, Arts & Antiquities Studio , New York Guarantee : This item can be returned for any reason within three days of purchase. This item is guaranteed in perpetuity for authenticity. The winner of this auction may print this page and consider the above legally binding. Check out my other items . Be sure to add me to your favorites list . This item is from the collection of my grandfather, Marcel Gibrat, 1915-1993. Mr. Gibrat worked as an art restorer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1957 to 1965. He specialized in restoration of antiquities , paintings and fine arts. Among his restorations are these Assyrian Stone Griffins which he reassembled from dozens of fragments. Mr. Gibrat owned and operated a restoration studio/ art & antiquities gallery on Madison Avenue in New York City from 1965 to 1991. He counted among his clients Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, Moshe Dayan and Mrs. Nelson Rockefeller. Mr. Gibrat continued to do work for major museums around the country . In 1969 Mr. Gibrat was visited by a Mr. Chensas, an Iranian antiquities dealer who introduced him to the idea of becoming an antiquities dealer. He started to buy at Sotheby's, Christie's and other New York area auction houses at that time. He also bought a lot of antiquities directly from Iran and Iraq ( Mesopotamia ). Thus continued his thirty-five-year love affair with antiquities and fine arts. While many of the pieces in the collection have provenance, the records are so confusing, that it is not feasible to say w each and every item comes from. Tfore the items listed on eBay represent an exceptional value for the collector. I stand by my representations of each item, and have a generous return policy (above). In addition it is a crime (fraud) to knowingly represent non-ancient items as genuine. Should you find a piece to be non-ancient, which is so represented, I will refund your money! Mr. Gibrat was a voluminous collector: the complete collection comprises many, many items from antiquities to modern art. Many items from the collection will be listed on eBay, over the next one to two years. Mr. Gibrat was also an outstanding artist who worked in many styles, but developed his own post-impressionist style in which he worked from the 1960's on. His paintings may appear someday in the $1000-10,000 range. Hint: do a Google search for "Marcel Gibrat" and you will see that reputable galleries are selling items from Mr. Gibrat's collection and honoring the provenance, in addition to selling the items for two to three times what they are buying them for from me. So go ahead and pay m...
