Dear eBay Trading Partner, please read this entire listing. Please understand the rare opportunity my auctions afford you. You are probably aware fraudulent items (especially antiquities) are frequently sold on eBay . Buying a pair of fake Levi's Jeans might be merely annoying, but getting taken for hundreds, or thousands, could be far more painful . My auctions are for genuine items and I stand by them. Any reproductions are clearly described as modern. My prices are often higher for seemingly similar items. T is a reason for this: authentic items! You simply are not going to get a multi-thousand dollar museum-quality piece for 19.99 + shipping! Check my outstanding feedback and bid with confidence. You are bidding on an item from the collection of Marcel Gibrat . This is a Greek or other ancient oil lamp. Estimate : 1000 Culture/Country : Greek or other ancient culture. See shipping for details. Check out my other items .Be sure to add me to your favorites list . This item is from the collection of my grandfather, Marcel Gibrat, 1915-1993. Mr. Gibrat worked as an art restorer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1957 to 1965. He specialized in restoration of antiquities , paintings and fine arts. Among his restorations are these Assyrian Stone Griffins which he reassembled from dozens of fragments. Mr. Gibrat owned and operated a restoration studio/ art & antiquities gallery on Madison Avenue in New York City from 1965 to 1991. He counted among his clients Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, Moshe Dayan and Mrs. Nelson Rockefeller. Mr. Gibrat continued to do work for major museums around the country . Mr. Gibrat left a very large collection of arts and antiquities. In 1969 Mr. Gibrat was visited by a Mr. Chensas, an Iranian antiquities dealer who introduced him to the idea of becoming an antiquities dealer. He started to buy at Sotheby's, Christie's and other New York area auction houses at that time. He also bought a lot of antiquities directly from the middle east. In the 1970's he became interested in ethnographic art as well. Many of the pieces in the collection have provenance, however the records confusing, and it is not feasible to say w each and every item comes from. Tfore the items listed represent an exceptional value. I stand by my item representations, and have a generous return policy (above). In addition it is a crime (fraud) to knowingly represent non-ancient items as genuine. Should you ever find a piece to be non-ancient, which is so represented, I will refund your money! Hint: do a Google search for " Marcel Gibrat " and you will see that reputable galleries are selling items from Mr. Gibrat's collection and honoring the provenance. Pay more later or buy now. I guarantee you opportunities like this are rare. happy Bidding! f New to eBay? Poweruser tip! DON'T GET SNIPED! Snipers wait until the last few minutes (or seconds) of an auction and rapidly enter small incremental bids to win the auction at an artificially low price by using robot software snipers to rapidly place dozens of bids in the last few seconds of an auction. You don't stand a chance against this strategy and the item could sell for LESS than you were willing to pay. Don't let that happen! use eBay's Proxy Bid to defeat sniper robots . You can enter the price you'd be happy paying and the proxy bid will constantly update your bid to the maximum as someone else bids (including snipers and sniper robots). Most snipers give up when t...
