Great.Myler bits are designed with independent side movement. The mouthpiece joins in the center under the barrel and each side can be rotated separately. This allows the rider to isolate one side of the bit and assist in lifting a shoulder. The mouthpiece is sweet iron. Sweet Iron is designed to rust to increase the acceptance of the bit by the horse. Horses actually enjoy the taste of rust (think how much they love licking rusty fences!). The mouthpiece also has copper insets to encourage salivation to help make the horse's mouth softer to make them more responsive to the bit. This bit is the combination style. According to Myler, "Very unique in design, the Myler Combination Bit is a hybrid of a ring bit, shank bit and Hackamore. The design features a large center ring for mouthpiece attachment, a top ring for headstall attachment and a bottom rein for rein attachment....The distance between the top and bottom rings determines the amount of leverage.
