THANKSGIVING TURKEY DINNER PLATES SET OF 4 : DETAILS: During the 18 th century skilled hand enamellers developed the technique of transferware, by transferring layers of tissue from original copper engravings onto biscuit ware. These pieces are produced by utilizing the centuries old art of transfer printing by using original copper hand engravings combined with modern decorating equipment. The colour is printed underglaze on fine earthenware giving a durable product which is microwave oven and dishwasher safe. The turkey featured in the design is highly detailed, as if from an antique natural history engraving. The bird stands in full-tailed display amid a cluster of ferns. The borders of each piece consist of equally detailed drawings of forest flora: blackberries, acorns, oak leaves, and simple wild rose blossoms. The color palette includes blues, reds, golds, and greens.
