Set of 12 NAREX 8105 Bevel Edged Chisels Narex 8105 bevel edged chisels are accurately ground, consistently hardened and offer exceptional value for money. They use a very efficient manufacturing process that produces good chisels cheaply, which is a very different thing from making cheap chisels. The sides on 8105's are a touch thicker than the Narex 8116 cabinetmakers chisel range (see our other listings) and while this can be a limitation when cutting fine dovetails, it provides great rigidity for more general use. Narex use a specially developed chrome manganese steel that can be isothermally hardened. We use the same method in the west to make small high perfomance springs that need to be very accurately and evenly hardened. It's expensive to set up in the first place but requires fewer steps than conventional hardening, so once up and running you can make huge quantities of superb chisels very cheaply. Sharpening angles and edge taking are the same as good quality conventional carbon steel. Strength,edge holding and uniformity of hardening are if anything marginally better.
