- Special " Alternate " English-language NationalGeographic Magazine issues - Here inthis lot I have a pile of misc. NGM issues (12 qty., unique) that are all the scarcer alternate covers [i.e., different than most copies delivered and sold in the U.S.]. Sometimes even the American newsstand edition has a different cover than the same issue that is mailed to Members. * a casual search for any of these months here on eBay will show you what the standard, 'regular' cover was * Note: It is not only the covers that are variant here -- the advertisements within and on back cover are different, and as well that the Departments Features vary a bit, either with +/- content from the U.S. / N. American Member editions. I've also observed that often the foreign English-language copies have a tendency to include more letters in the Member's Forum (aka Letters page) Included: September 2003 - Slaves [U.K., and Euro; Can. edition] July 2004 - Cocaine fighter [Can., Mexico, S. America, & U.K. edition] August 2005 - BOMB cover [Canada, U.K. edition] May 2006 - Judas Gospel codex [U.K., Can., U.S. newsstand-only] July 2006 - Under Rome [U.K., and Euro] October 2006 - World Parks (to save) [U.K. coverstory: Snowdonia Nat'l Park, Wales] January 2007 - Dubai's palm islands [Hong Kong, U.K., Middle-East English-speaking areas] March 2007 - Chad Elephant herds [U.S. newstand; same cover story + image, but different text headline " Last Stand "] May 2007 - India's urban explosion [U.K., Hong Kong, other English-speaking areas in Eastern Euro/Mid-East] August 2009 - Venice sinking [U.K. , Euro] (added 7/22/15) May 2007 - Pig/Jamestown [U.S. newsstand] ~ see 2nd image, scan of cover/not in group photo *set weight = 7 lbs., 10.0 oz. More National Geographic magazines, and other Nat Geo items ---> Nat Geo - ALL Items Condition: Each issue copy is in slightly different condition. Most of these were mailed from overseas (hence, 'rougher' transit), and as well, were used, read copies in the first place. Any may have a corner bump or tiny corner crease here or there. Please do peruse the photos and Condition comments above; photo of the spines, etc. are more helpful than anything I can write out. Specific call-outs ---> Sept 2003 - SLAVES: has front stains and moisture dot; 1/2 circle drink cup mark, a texture smudge in the "27 Million" area ; heavier glue spots from original brown paper mailer July 2004 - minor handling evidence Aug 2005 - several front-cover blemishes on the sheen/surface ; overall, exterior shows higher degree of handling May 2006 - smooth/clean; nice sheen level ; early-stage crease upper RH front cover corner July 2006 - crease on diagonal -- rear cover ; front shows some scuffing, dots ; front inside cover seam is reinforced w/ Lineco archival mending tissue -- SEE 4th last photo Oct. 2006 - a few vertical thin darker lines from original brown paper mailer (glue caused this) Jan 2007 - overall nice, smooth ; bottom LH corner of mag was bumped, casued crease lines there March 2007 - newsstand copy w/ barcode; really nice/clean/shiny; short corner crease on bottom RH of cover May 2007 - heavier soiling marks (like scuffing/abrasion) on both F + B covers -- more glaring on back due to (partial) white background Aug 2009 - nice, minor handling May 2007 - overall V/G or + , but w/ small slice in mid-front cover, LH side, mostly in yellow border area. Otherwise unmarked, no damage. Shipping Comments: For these National Geographic magazines in particular, I want to highlight that I am always happy to combine & reduce shipping. I have NO built-in handling/seller fees. I am shipping based on actual weight-to-destination. I am not a business, though, just an individual with some extras. Sadly, due to U.S.P.S. laws about Book Rate/Media Mail rate, I cannot ship Nat Geo mags at Media rate, due to the presence of advertisements, no matter how old they are.
