NEW YORK CENTRAL/HUDSON RIVER R.R. GALVANIZED TIN OIL CAN VINTAGE, GOOD CONDITION Metal shows a few areas of very light surface rust and whitish discoloration underside; bottom of handle is loose from container. Screw-on threaded cap with two tiny holes punched top of cap. Whether these are original to the use of this can or it was modified--we don't know. Otherwise, structurally intact with no cracks or holes or rust-through and overall in good condition. N.Y.C. & H.R.R.R. in raised block letters on side of can, for the New York Central & Hudson River Railroad--which started running steam engines in 1831 and took its last steamer off the tracks in 1953. We do not know the date of manufacture of this oil can; only that a piece like this would have been in use in conjunction with steam engines of that era. DIMENSIONS: 8 1/2" H x about 8 3/4" from spout to handle. THANKS FOR STOPPING BY! Check out my other items !
