You are bidding on one newer Stanley #5 wood plane as pictured.It features the brown or purple (somew in between) color to the body and frog, and the yellow infill around STANLEY on the lever cap.It is marked "BAILEY" and "MADE IN USA" around the front knob, "No 5" on the back end, and has the STANLEY notched rectangle logo on the iron.Condition is very good, and wanting a light cleaning. The plane appears to have been used hardly at all, but does have some light patina (color) on the bare steel parts. The rear handle and front knob have a few slight scuffs in the finish, but could not be much closer to perfect. The purple finish virtually 100% intact. T are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything operates properly.SHIPPING: 5 pounds when boxed, but it will fit into a regular Priority Flat Rate box with room to spare. (see below if you are bidding outside the US)This is one of a number of auctions of Stanley and similar metallic planes that I have listed right now. The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. I typically list in batches of similar tools, and sitting right now in the queue are LOTS of metallic planes and some parts for them, LOTS of American and British molders, chisels and gouges, bevels and squares and gauges, books about tools, and a variety of other tools. And if you, like me, are tired of the disappointments as a shopper -- misleading descriptions and poor photographs, "fine" tools that turned out to be repainted when you got them, non original parts that weren't mentioned, and poor packaging, -- then I encourage you to follow my auctions. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and pictures only of the left side when the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. If I have added or replaced a part, I will tell you. If I think the wedge on a molding plane is not original, I will tell you. If I think a japanned plane has been repainted, I will tell you. What goes around, comes around. RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. WASHINGTON STATE BIDDERS: I hate to do this, but if I ship to a Washington address, no matter w you actually live, I either have to charge Washington State sales tax, or receive a valid resale form.PRIORITY MAIL FLAT RATE BOXES FOR HEAVY ITEMS: The Post Office has two sizes of the regular Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes (11-7/8 x 3-3/8 x 13-5/8 inches and 11 x 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches), plus a larger and more expensive Flat Rate Box, for which the postage stays the same regardless of weight. I try to use these if at all possible.
