Back pastedown of both volumes are slightly brown around the edges. Pages are clean and the bindings are strong. Description: Volume I: 421 pages, Volume II: 451 pages. Bound in blue leather covers with gilt decoration and gilt top edges. Printed on all rag, deckle-edge paper. Photos, references, index. Limited first edition, number 849 of 996 autographed by the author and the subject. This book is “based on the personal papers of the secretary of war in the world war; his correspondence with the president and important leaders at home and abroad; the confidential cablegrams between the war department and headquarters in France; the minutes of the war industries aboard, and other first-hand material.” Shipping: U.S. shipping will be via media mail.
