Nicholas Ikaris was born on the Aegian island of Karia, the mythical site of The Fall of Icarus. A 1950 graduate of
The Fine Arts Academy in Athens, Ikaris received a number of important prizes in his homeland and abroad. His public
sculptures can be found in Vienna, Dortmund, New York City, New Orleans, and Ikaria. He served for a time as a
professor at Kingsborough Community College of The City University of New York, "The City Hall of New York
City displays his statue THE ASTRONAUT which is dedicated to astronaut John Glenn".
