A North Eastern Railway RAILWAY SERVICE armband � Made from cotton canvas, with a shiny wax coating on the outside. Numbered '5132'. Complete with original large safety-pin to fasten. These armbands - and also enamel lapel � badges - were worn by railway workers in WW1 to show that, although not on the front line, they were engaged on important war work. Dimensions: 18" x 3". Condition: Very good, folded, appears unworn, very small areas of wax coating absent.
