We raise funds through eBay sales of items from our local history preservation efforts, with this we can buy materials needed for future presevation projects. This is a NEW, original production by our company, and the auction is for a new, unused DVD created in our offices.The Northern Indiana Railway was a classic trolley and Interurban line in the hey-day of electric transportation in the Midwest before and after the turn of the 20th Century. Beginning in 1885 as a horse-car line it became the second electric trolley system in the United States, second only to Richmond, Virginia. Over the years, it went under various names including...The Chicago, South Bend and Northern Indiana, as well as...The Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan Railway.The historic photos and short movie clips all had to be taken before 1940 when the line finally went out of business. These photos come from several collections with narration by rail historians who both experienced the line in their youth and have studied it, with some being published authors.Producer Bill Warrick, who has produced numerous videos on transportation which have been distributed Nationally, remembers the line which ran past his boyhood home in Elkhart. read more
