October 21 st 2007 celebrates the 60 th Anniversary of Max Stanley's maiden flight of the number one YB-49 Flying Wing Jet Bomber. Stanley was Northrop Aircraft's chief test pilot on the YB-49 program. The maiden flight was from Northrop Field in Hawthorne , California to Muroc Army Air Base, now Edwards Air Force Base.
