This is a rare 5-prong/1932 Arcturus radio tube/bulb. Arcturus was the chief maker of Wunderlich types, and "Wunderlich" was a trademark of theirs. Arcturus Wunderlich types are striking with their blue glass and dark red bases, and four variations were made. The Arcturus Wunderlich A, with a 2.5V, 1.0A filament, was made as a 5 pin tube with a grid cap and a six pin tube with no cap. . Arcturus was one of several companies doing research on the pentode, and in early 1930 was conducting lab tests on an experimental pentode called the PE-7. This tube was strictly experimental and never offered for sale. In June of 1931 Arcturuus introduced their PZ pentode (Fig. 17). It is a matter of debate as to which American pentode was first on the market, but Arcturus was certainly among the first. The original PZ was similar to the slightly later 47, but with lower u and Rp. After the 47 became established Arcturus made small design changes in the PZ to make it interchangeable. By May of 1932 the PZH was added to the line. The original PZH was basically a 47 with an indirect heater, and was the first such tube on the market. After the introduction of the 2A5 by RCA, the PZH was redesigned to have similar characteristics.
