Early 1960's NOS Coca Cola Big King Size bow tie or fishtail tin metal sign in near perfect condition. Has 6 original mounting holes which have never been used. A beautiful, displayable Coke sign. No clear coat or touchups. Sign has not been waxed - no need to. Measures 27.5 inches in length and 20 inches in height. Has a light ding on very top edge above the "S" in Size. Has a small nic in very upper right corner. Paint still glossy and bright white. Please look closely at all pictures. Lower right corner states "MCA 1261". Lower left corner has "1651". MCA stands for the Massillon-Cleveland-Akron Sign Co. which was formed around 1905 and went out of business in April of 2014. Back of sign in near perfect shape as well. John Pemberton, a pharmacist, concocted a drink around 1884 with coca leaves, caffeine, and alcohol. He called the new drink Wine Coca and some early ads list it as Coca Wine but in 1886 decided to take the alcohol out and Coca Cola was born. The company was bought out around 1889 for close to 3,000. by Asa Candler, whose marketing techniques led the new soft drink to world dominance all through the 20th century.
