Operating out of Erie, Pennsylvania the Griswold Manufacturing Company company was officially opened in 1865 and remained in operation until 1957. Although they produced a number of high quality cast iron products, it is their fine line of cast iron cookware which gained them international fame. Many of these articles are now among some of the most collectible vintage products on the market today. Like this one... Genuine New-Old-Stock Griswold No. 8 Large Logo EPU Skillet with Heat Ring Never used - never seasoned Manufactured between 1919 and 1940 8 7/8 inch diameter cooking base 10 3/8 inch diameter at the top rim When my wife was cleaning this skillet, some black stuff kept coming off on the paper towel She was sure someone painted it - and she was right... sort of It was sprayed with an anti-rust agent at the Griswold foundry some 70+ years ago Still has the original casting and milling marks T is some sort of spray mark on the bottom - looks like the rust preventer, only heavier Please note: We no longer ship Griswold skillets via USPS Flat-Rate packages as we have received 3 broken pans in the past 60 days Terms: - Pay quickly, or at least within 3 days - No returns due to nature of the item
