Laying Track on the Misouri - NPRR by: F. Jay Haynes Moorhead, Minnesota c. 1878 Offered for bid is a rare albumen stereoview Track Laying on the Missouri by F. J. Haynes - Moorhead, Minnesota c. 1878. Hayne's buff mount with title in negative, his Moorhead, Minnesota and Northern Pacific Stereographs imprints recto, and Northern Pacific Railroad line on the Missouri River, and Black Hills Views along the Custer Route from Bismarck to Deadwood verso. Soiling with stain upper left. Images a bit "washed" yet excellent depth through viewer with buildings and hills/bluffs visible in the far distance. Offered at No Reserve! F. Jay Haynes (1853-1921) - Learnedphotography from S. C. Graham in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, 1873. Worked for William H. Lockwood of Ripon, Wisconsin, 1875. He piloted the excursion boat Camera for at Green Lake Resort for Lockwood. In 1876, Haynes opened his studio in Moorhead and contracted with the Northern Pacific Railroad to produce views for their promotional purposes. He developed one of the finest inventories of stereoview images of the Dakota country, in part due to a commission to photograph the Black Hills Stage Company . In 1879 he opened a larger studio in Fargo, North Dakota . James Paris was a key contributor to Haynes' studio and remained with him until 1905. In 1881, Haynes added the Canadian
