Hard to say enough about the condition of this lantern! It truly appears to be in mint condition -- perhaps never used and never lit! New old stock would apply to this one, I think. Well marked on the lid for NS RY and made in the 3rd quarter of 1955 -- this lantern is from the Norfolk Southern Ry -- the shortline in the Carolina's. All the tin is present, the inside of the dome has no soot or evidence of heat. The fuel fount has the factory wadding in it which is dry and does not show evidence of ever being filled with fuel. The wick is pliable, soft and has no fuel stain. The globe is embossed Adlake Kero and has no cracks or cloudy areas. The Adlake Kero marking is also embossed on the dome top. The frame is straight, no dents, and solid.Don't miss out -- lanterns in this condition rarely come along!
