Item for auction is a 0.37g slice of my NWA 6926 ungrouped achondrite, which consists of multiple fragments of a fresh specimen with cumulate igneous texture. Large oikocrysts of orthopyroxene (Fs 41.4-41.7 Wo 3.7 ; FeO/MnO = 80-87) enclose chadacrysts of olivine (Fa 51.8-51.9 ; FeO/MnO = 141-156; NiO = 0.74 wt.%) and chromite, with interstitial albitic plagioclase and small grains of very Ni-rich metal (awaruite). Trains of tiny fluid-like bubbles are present especially in orthopyroxene. This material is essentially identical to NWA 6693 and NWA 6704, and likely represents a portion of one of those two large stones (probably NWA 6704, since its reassembled mass was not complete). Achondrite (ungrouped). This specimen is unlike other achondrites in its combined features: relatively ferroan mafic silicate minerals with elevated FeO/MnO ratios and anomalous Ni contents, extremely sodic plagioclase, very Ni-rich metal, and oxygen isotopic composition that plots within the field for acapulcoites-lodranites. Weathering is low and limited to minor coatings of pale orange desert dust on broken surfaces. Unshocked. This is an exceptional specimen that would make a perfect addition to your collection, and comes with a Big Kahuna Meteorites Certificate of Authenticity. Scale cube in photo is 1cm on each side, and not included in sale. Big
