Absolutely beautiful mint condition NY National Guard cavalry officers dress helmet from the late Indian Wars or Spanish American War period.... the nicest one I have seen or owned. Excellent original patent leather around border, mint condition sweat band with complete stitching intact. Orange Yellow plume and rare officers front plate. Look like it was never worn, but has name written in period ink and original Inspected NGNY stamp (partial) still legible. Even has original size 7 tag. No breaks, damage or mothing in the helmet cover... just beautiful. Chin cord is original period, lacks some of the original length and missing leather or lamb-backing... is simply connected for display and not functional. A magnificent and rare example of a beautiful helmet. This has been in my personal collection for years and before that came from a NY collection... before that I believe it was a pristine item saved from Bannermans island. Very reasonable reserve on this item.. absolutely highest quality and condition worthy of a museum or quality collection... impossible to upgrade.
