Victor VV-50 portable phonograph in an oak case. Serial#88280. Mfg. date March 15, 1923. Sold by Sherman Clay & Co. according to the stencil under the lid. This model features the side winding crank and the needle disposal unit under the lid towards the back. I know alot of collectors like this model for that feature. Also has the record/turntable hold down inside the top lid. The nickleplate overall is very nice and shiny. My picture of the reproducer looks dull...it is clean and shiny. The dark spot on the underside or bottom of the phonograph (thankfully) does not show when you are playing or displaying the phonograph. Below is some of the work I did on this phonograph: ----The motor was taken completely apart and serviced. The single spring was removed, cleaned of the old grease and new lithium grease was applied. All the old gummed up grease that had accumulated on the other motor parts was cleaned off and new lubrication applied. 2 photos show the motor before reinstallation. ----The Victrola 2 reproducer was completely rebuilt. This phonograph will amaze you as to how loud it plays a record. No hiss or loss of air. The reproducer housing is clean and shiny nickle. Photo did not come out well on this. ----The tonearm was removed from the phonograph and the bearing track was cleaned and regreased. There is a full set of bearings read more
