Occupied Japan Tin Celluloid Windup Covered Wagon & Box Please check out my other auctions for many tin friction cars, other tin vehicles and other Japanese tin being listed, many in original boxes! I will combine shipping on multiple purchases! c.1950's Occupied Japan wind-up tin and celluloid covered wagon with rider, with original box and key. This wonderful toy is a great representation of the old west. It is a celluloid horse and driver, with a tin wagon and wheels with silk-type cloth covering. This toy was made in Japan (the horse is stamped Occupied Japan, the cart and box are only marked Japan). The toy still works, but when you windup the mechanism, the horses legs try to move, but it does not pull the wagon at all. (If you pick it up the legs move just fine, it may need some adjustment to get it aligned right with the wagon.) The toy measures 9" long x 3.5" tall. The box has a wonderful label on the lid showing a covered wagon in the desert that is marked TEXAS. CONDITION: T are no cracks, breaks or repairs to the celluloid. The cloth covering has seen better days and has many holes on top and could be replaced (it dsiplays fine from 1 side). Factory glue mark holding tin harness to horse. The original box is in nice condition with some edge wear, some old tape at the side, and a puncture hole in the box bottom. This read more
