Not only did the 1962 New York Mets stink worse than any other baseball team ever, they also got to pay good money for the right to do so. Evidence is presented in the form of this contract assignment between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Mets. Following a set payment schedule for players made available in the 1961 Expansion Draft, this single-page document dated 10/10/61 for the same day of the draft, transferred the contracts of Phillies players "Choo-Choo" Coleman, Bobby Gene Smith and Ray Lee Walls to the Mets for the sum of $275,000.00, which was pretty hefty for the time. This well-preserved "Uniform Agreement" contract is crisp and clean, and with deference to two original period horizontal compacting folds, it shows EX-MT+ details.
