You are bidding on a old whiskey jug from New Haven, Conn. It is a #3 jug. Writing on jug is H. Salzman, WINES AND LIQUORS. 51 & 53 Congress Ave., New Haven, Conn. Jug is 16" tall and 9.5" across bottom and weighs about 17 pounds. Jug is in nice condition. Pour spout has a few chips on the inside and t is a slight surface crack about 6" long on the back side. It does not go through jug and you can not even feel it. Believe it is under the glaze. Please look at last picture as I have it pointed out. A few small chips around the bottom edge. All the yellow spots you see on the sides and bottom of jug are paint. I started to scrap it off but decided a person might like to leave it. It does scrape off easily with a single edge razor. This is a nice solid jug. NOTE: Please note this is H Salzman not M Salzman. I am not sure but this might be Harry Salzman brother to Morris Salzman, whose jugs are more common. If you happen to know anything on this jug please email me. Shipping is actual at 20# pryority mail. Payment by Paypal or money order. NOTE: Received email today from the great grandson of Henry Salzman. Below is the email. Makes this piece much more interesting. H. Salzman is Henry Salzman. Brother to Morris Salzman. Morris was a much more successful merchant, with his main store in Brooklyn and many branches throughout NY State. read more
