This is an uncommon early to mid 1800's Pennsylvania German style killing or butchering axe. It is hand forged with an extended round poll which was used to strike the victim on the forehead. The edge side was used for dismemberment - it is definitely pre-PETA! The handle is old, possibly original with the drawknife marks clearly visible and a great patina. T are some old square cut nails driven in as extra wedges to hold the head tight. A great addition to your edge tool collection. Shipping - We charge actual shipping cost by USPS from zip 19562.
