Old Happy Laughing Famille Rose buddha with Children Also know as The Buddha of Fulfillment. Porcelain. Measures Approx 9.5" X 8.5" This Buddha, statue is Antique, but I do not know the exact year it was made. I do know that it was made before 1940. Red Stamped "Made in China" with the number "16" stamped twice on the bottom. The Number "72" written on the bottom also. What is Famille Rose? From Encyclopedia Britanica Online: " group of Chinese porcelain wares characterized by decoration painted in opaque overglaze rose colours, chiefly shades of pink and carmine. These colours were known to the Chinese as yang cai ("foreign colours") because they were first introduced from Europe (about 1685)." Excellent condition! No Chips, cracks or fractures. T is one small blemish on back that looks like is has been t since the piece was fired. Extremly detailed This Buddha statue is said to protect children, and bring fertility. Can bring "The joyful laughter of children into the home." Traditionally used by couples who want to have a child, or who want children chi in their lives. He is the guardian of the young and innocent. This is a wonderful gift for newly married couples, couples with newborns, or those wishing to have children!
