This is old cloisonne...not new!! The snail has amazing workmanship and has a unique shell which is a separate piece. The shell by itself is a priceless sculpture!! The snail is detailed top to bottom and has Gold gilt details. This is not a cheap new body ~ the body under the cloisons is Bronze!! Comes with its own custom wooden stand!! I invite you to compare this with other cloisonne auctions!! The detailed defined art, rich colors, and materials are characteristics of Imperial Cloisonné. Each item is individually made and no two alike. The snail has been safely stored in my warehouse for over 25 years and was older when shipped from China in the early 80's. The item has never been used and is in mint condition. The masters of Imperial Cloisonné produced the finest detailed and skilled cloisonné and enamelware. Imperial Cloisonné is no longer. The Masters have disappeared. Lesser quality items are being produced for inexpensive export and antique replicas with modern technology to meet the American craze. For the connoisseurs who know Chinese Art, this is very sad. This snail is truly a collectible and the workmanship precious. It measures 2-3/4"high and 3"across with stand.
