Thanks to you collectors, I have sold the great majority of my 200+ trapper pocketknife collection. I have about a dozen holdouts that were special to me. They represent the best of my collection. By that I mean they are either pristine old ones, or knives that have closely matched stag handles, with perfect symmetry, thickness, etc. If you are a collector you know what I mean. For your consideration first is my oldest remaining Ka-Bar trapper, and I have no idea how old it is. It seems the nice folks at Ka-Bar have no records either. All I can say is that it is identical in all respects to one that was given to my grandfather in the late 1930âe(tm)s or early 1940âe(tm)s by my father. He used his to skin a thousand squirrels and rabbits until he had to quit hunting in about 1970. His has been sharpened so much that t is little of the blades remaining. This oneâe(tm)s blades are pristine, with no evidence of ever having been sharpened, or used in any way. It has that translucent yellow handle material that was common on old Ka-Bars. T are no cracks, nicks, or dings anyw The knife contains no brass liners, pins, etc. The bolsters, blade separators, and pins, are all nickel silver.
