DESCRIPTION IMPORTANT NOTE: If you think you've seen this before, you have. We are really easy to get along with, but we are a bit cheerier when folks pay for the things they buy. Sigh. Relisted for nonpayment. MLN 1609 / Antique Oak Rustic Ice Box ~ This is a grand Snowflake icebox or old time refrigerator. We understand that folks use these in their kitchens for holding microwaves and small appliances. Using it as intended ~ as a refrigerator with a big chunk of ice inside for cooling ~ probably isn't cost effective these days. W does one, for example, get a 50 pound block of ice? All of the accessories associated with cooling food with ice are charming in their own right ~ tongs, pound signs for the front window ~ but these wonderful old oak refrigerators are pretty irresistible too. This one is constructed of solid oak with all of the deeply inset panels expected on these old pieces. It's got its original hardware and the original Snowflake logo below the top doors. The heavily paneled sides are a nice complement to the paneled doors on the front. The interior is painted yellow and it looks like the floor of the upper compartment has been replaced. We're not sure ~ just think it may have been metal at one time. The top is of heavy, solid oak too, and t are notches cut out at the front corners. You can see this in the last photo read more
