See the scans. This is a WWII period qualification insignia for jump qualified paratroopers. The Parachutist Badge was authorized on March 10, 1941. It is 1 1/2" wide. This particular example is fairly heavy and excellent quality in the very early pinback style (the Army decreed that clutchbacks would be used from late 1942 on). This badge has raised hallmarks, "STERLING" on the lower left reverse and then a maker's hallmark on the right, which is a signpost made from an old tree with the sign to the right, which appears to be a stylized "A" or a bell, or something. During WWII, the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy used the silver badge such as this one, but late switched to a larger, gold colored jump wing. Generally excellent condition. Interesting maker. Scarce in pinback. NO RESERVE !!! I will be listing other interesting American military insignia this week. NOTE: I am very good about getting my orders out promptly, sometimes same day and almost always within 24 hours. However, lately the U.S. postal "service" has been very spotty. In the last several months, I have had first class insured items take over a month to California and two weeks in New York State. Most are delivered in a timely fashion, but a few are not.
