This is a nice 1948 Noblitt-Sparks Industries, Arvin ac/dc radio. It is model 358-T and works well with just a bit of low level hum. The radio receives the standard broadcast band and picked up plenty of stations using only it's internal antenna. The circiut is the famous All-American Five, a superhet using five tubes. The cabinet is plastic and the finish, although chipped, is original and in one colors offered "Sandal Wood". The word ARVIN on the front of the cabinet was plated using vacumn metalizing, a new process back then. The sound is loud, using only a 4" round speaker, and t is no distortion. This is a slightly smaller than usual table radio, so it would fit almost anyw Probably purchased as a second home radio, for use in the kitchen or bedroom. T is a stain, probably paint on the front dial cover and I think it could easily be polished off(see photo). The knobs are original, but are oxidized and could use a cleaning. The back board for this radio was missing when I purchased it. This is a rarely seen radio, so it would make a nice restoration project. If you are new to collecting, this would make a nice beginners restoration radio or if you don't mind the few chips on the finish a nice original piece to accent your decor. The radio will weigh 12 pounds for shipping. It's dimensions are 9 1/2" wide, 7" tall and 5 1/2" deep. read more
