Old West Pharo/Poker Cards Please read our terms of sale prior to bidding for a larger image Description Although not seen too much today, Pharo (also commonly spelled "Faro") is considered the King of the Old West Gambling Games. Many recent westerns including Tombstone , Wyatt Earp , and Open Range have scenes of Pharo playing. Although Pharo is played with a standard 52 card deck, this replica deck is a reproduction of a Samuel Hart deck that is marked "Pharo Cards". Like any 52 card deck it can be used for playing Pharo or poker. This replica deck is authentic in every way, including the squared off cards with no numbers, the tax stamp that seals each deck, and the side-opening box. The markings on the box, including the important note on the reverse, are all as the original with little indication that this is a modern reproduction. Each card is printed on card stock with no coating. Cards like these were used in the movie Tombstone . The use of the proper cards is one of the few things that the writers got correct regarding Pharo, but it is still a great film. This deck would make a great gift for any old west re-enactor.
