This is a unique Estate Sale find! The prior owner indicated this had been acquired a number of years ago during travels in Greece. This is a spectacular hand crafted and hand decorated tall Pitcher or Ewer Museum Reproduction of what appears to be by a Hydria 650BC creation. It appears that this piece may have been created for the Louvre Museum and signed by the Artist ~ D Vasselopoulos ?????. This unusual Ewer is hand painted with an intricate motif of birds, antelopes, mythical man creatures, greek keys, flowers and more. There are even "eyes" under the spout. The motif is in shades of brown and black on a bright white background. In very nice Vintage condition - a gentle cleaning may be preferred. As is common with hand crafted ceramic pieces, faint pottery/glazing blemishes are evident adding to the unique character of this piece. Tiny painting scuffs were found - they could be from the crafting process or improper storage - they don't detract from this piece. Using a ruler, this measures just about 9" high x nearly 6 - 3/8" wide (at the widest center area). The underside is hand marked.
